Cae Iago Riding Centre (est. 1968) is a family run business specialising in adult riding holidays. Over the last 30 years it has established itself as one of the most popular riding holiday centres in Wales. It is located on the edge of the beautiful Cambrian Mountains in the heart of rural Wales ensuring spectacular riding country and varied wildlife. Old Roman roads and ancient drovers tracks take us past clear mountain streams as they bubble down wild unspoilt hills into shady valleys.

We have a wide range of forward going and well cared for Welsh cobs and horses to suit all abilities. However, as you will be riding four to five hours per day, we strongly advise people to have mastered the basic riding skills prior to arrival as we feel this will make their holiday all the more enjoyable and a lot less painful!

Fun and relaxation are the main aims. If you want to stay in bed until breakfast time and saunter out just in time for the ride at 10.30am, your horse will have been brought in, brushed and tacked up ready for you. You’re also very welcome to get up a bit earlier and bring your horse in from the field and prepare him/her for the ride. You will be supervised at all times, so it is an excellent opportunity to gain confidence if you are new to it.

We offer full week packages, midweek and weekend breaks as well as trail rides for the more experienced rider. Mid-week breaks are becoming increasingly popular and you can choose between 2,3,4 or 5 day breaks. As there are no designated start or finish times to our breaks you can adapt your holiday to suit yourself and price it accordingly.

Our late Victorian farmhouse is clean and comfortable with ensuite shower rooms and tea/coffee making facilities in every bedroom. There is also a bathroom with an abundance of hot water to soak away any aches and pains! Alternatively you may fancy an aromatherapy massage, which we can arrange for you.

All our packages include full board accommodation – English breakfast, packed lunch, afternoon tea and two course evening meal. You will find plentiful quantities of home cooked food served up in the communal dining room and afternoon tea and cakes are laid out in the comfortable lounge on your return from a day’s riding. We are happy to cater for vegetarians and special diets; please inform us in advance!

As we don’t have an alcohol licence at Cae Iago you are more than welcome to bring your own to enhance our delicious home cooking: - alternatively our local pub is just down the road.

If you fancy a leisurely walk along the river bank or through the fields in the evening to stretch your weary muscles the dogs will be delighted to accompany you; they love all the fuss and attention. Alternatively, there are plenty of interesting places to visit round and about.

The only optional extras you may wish to treat yourself to are massages and treatments by qualified practitioners, (please book in advance) in advance, and the opportunity to purchase local produce to take home, such as honey and jams, greetings cards, paintings and photographs. We also have some items of riding wear in stock, i.e. half chaps and gloves, but we will be happy to order any other items you may want.

Should clients opt to travel by public transport we are happy to offer transport to and from the local towns of Llandovery or Lampeter at no extra cost.

You will find everything about your stay at Cae Iago informal and relaxed; except your safety. Clients are encouraged to treat the place as home and to enjoy themselves away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. People come back time and time again because we offer both regular and occasional riders a chance to relax and enjoy the freedom of the countryside, at a price that means they can make it a habit.

We look forward to welcoming you soon .
